Walac Studio

Glasgow, Scotland

walac. is a Glasgow based creative studio founded by French artist an designer c.a. walac. in 2018. Trained as a sculptor and juggling with function and non-function, walac’s studio specializes in the design and manufacture of limited editions, bespoke & conceptual furniture, experimental objects and art.

While chasing abstract domesticity and industrial surrealism, the studio focuses on deploying theatricality in spaces through materials and shapes. Taking their inspiration from different realities, walac.’s pieces are emotional responses making room by reconstructing micro-events mentally formulated from experiencing details.

Through the sculptural, walac. aims to explore all things surrounding us... This comes from a ravenous passion to reform generic objects, and hunt the unexpected and the unconventional.

Her work has been presented at Mint gallery during London Design Festival 2019, Design Exhibition Scotland 2nd Edition, and The Lighthouse, Scotland’s Centre for Design and Architecture. In 2020, she was awarded a Visual Artist and Craft Makers Awards from Creative Scotland and she was selected by Wallpaper* Magazine as one of the standout success to represent Scotland in their Global Interiors edition.

// Room for Irregularities Chair

The room for Irregularities collection focus on highlighting unconventional shapes and promoting irregularities. The side chair, a six legged industrial animal with bent horns often appear in corridors, rooms corners, or hanging around curved walls.

// Room for Irregularities mirror long

Dark waves of silent water running along the walls, On the curved shore of your shelter. This is the closeness in which we meet. A parallel reconsideration between one and its opposite, connecting the islands of self.

The room for Irregularities collection takes its roots in the conjugation of Glasgow’s strong industrial heritage to the wild shapes of the Scottish lochs. By presenting a fragmented land and isolating body parts, the mirrors let us focus on the genuine beauty of details instead of presenting a general shape. It's an anti-narcissus letting room for irregularities.
