Seungjoon Song is a multidisciplinary designer based in Seoul and deals with the process of capturing and portraying the interpretation of monochromatic colors as a result of three-dimensional objects.
I tried to capture the color of the calm earth which has always surrounded all things. I lacquered metal blocks partly and oxidized the margins. Lacquer painting can be completed by a number of coatings and oxidation is formed by natural factors for long such as humidity and wind. Through these two methods of surface finishing, I would like to imply the ‘time’ of the land that has been forming since the beginning of everything. The combination of the polished surface of the human-finished lacquer and the raw, abstract surface of the natural-finished oxidation forms a quiet change and contrast in red-brown monochromatic color, completing an object that can be appreciated.
