Pushing the boundaries of ceramics:

When it comes to pushing the boundaries within a certain field, you’d do well to find a more impressive catalogue of pieces than that of Isin Sezgi Avci. Avci uses her background in interior architecture to develop ceramic pieces using a huge range of forms, textures and finishes. Her work often takes inspiration from her investigation into biomimicry and how all kinds of organisms work at a molecular level. Pushing ceramics to its limits, she works on each product herself making every work unique.

Mitochondia - Isin Sezgi Avci

The Mitochondria coffee table is a piece of ceramic sculptural furniture. Mitochondria takes its name from energy producing organelle; inspired by its sculptural and variable form as well as its important function in cellular metabolism. With the designer’s characteristic interpretation the variable expression in the shaping of this sculptural form constitutes its main character. Its base is made of three pieces and is entirely hand built by the designer. Because of the method of production, each edition is a unique piece, slightly different from one another.

Orbitae - Isin Sezgi Avci

The Orbitae side table is a piece of ceramic sculptural furniture. The Designer was inspired by orbit and wave paths, seeking for a physical form and aiming to catch a moment of the cycle by creating Orbitae. It is made of one piece and is entirely hand built by the designer. Because of the method of production, each edition is a unique piece, slightly different from one another.

Senex - Isin Sezgi Avci

The Senex coffee table is a set of two pieces of ceramic sculptural furniture. Senex is created by the investigation of ancient forms that were shaped by Homo Habilis during human evolution. With the designer’s characteristic interpretation several forms combined together to compose the Senex. It is entirely hand built by the designer. Because of the method of production, each edition is a unique piece, slightly different from one another.
