Studio Ocho Cuartos

Daniel Nikolovksi.jpg

San Diego, USA

STUDIO OCHO CUARTOS was created by Mexican-American designer Monserrat Cotugno and filmmaker Alec Cotugno. The studio was born and raised in the desert along the border.

An interdisciplinary studio that builds worlds through furniture, objects, and interiors, our studio passionately journeys into the intersections of the found and the unknown.

BANGU LOUNGE CHAIR

Bangu Lounge Chair is the result of the merging of the Japanese concept of Ma Ga Warui and Mexican-Zapotecan ideologies. Inspired by these two culture’s architecture and philosophical values such as symmetry, connection to nature and resourcefulness, this piece invokes an experience of grounding oneself, through sitting on a lower plane encouraging the viewer to have a moment of pause.
